OLIMPIA MILANO

Olimpia Milano was founded in 1936, and the club won its first Italian championship that same year. Since then the club has won 29 Italian League Championships, 8 Italian National Cups, 3 European championships, 3 FIBA Saporta Cups, 2 Korać Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 4 Italian Super Cups, and 23 Italian junior championships. It’s the most successful Italian basketball club of all time. Five Olimpia coaches and players have been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame: Cesare Rubini, Sandro Gamba, Dino Meneghin, Bill Bradley and Bob McAdoo. The club has retired 3 shirt numbers: number 18 worn by Arthur Kenney, number 8 worn by Mike D’Antoni and Sandro Gamba, and number 11 worn by Dino Meneghin, symbols not only of the club’s success but also the values ​​it embraces: competitiveness, loyalty, sacrifice and team spirit. Olimpia was the very first European club to play in the first official NBA team tournament, held in Milwaukee in 1987. Since 2008, the club has been owned by the Armani Group and has won 12 trophies. In the 2020/21 season, Olimpia made it back into the EuroLeague Final Four; the club’s coach Ettore Messina was inducted into the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame in 2021. The Armani Junior Program has been running since 2008. It’s a program that promotes grassroots basketball and includes over 100 clubs from all over Italy
