POLE HOUSE VICTORIA – AUSTRALIA
Known for its spectacular visual impact, the Pole House is without a doubt the most photographed architectonic project on Great Ocean Road, in Australia.Suspended at a height of 40 meters, the iconic house appears to be floating among the clouds.
Originally constructed in 1970 by architect and engineer Frank Dixon, over the past two years the building has been completely renovated by Architect Franco Fiorentini of F2 Architecture. Beginning with the large windows which provide a 360° view of the ocean, the objective was to use reliable and resistant materials in order to gurantee the durability and structural integrity of the building.
For the flooring, the ceramic material selected was the Basaltina Stone Project by Lea Ceramiche. A full body porcelain tile collection that recalls natural basalt stone and, depending on the finishing, assumes different colors. The lappata finish chosen for Pole House gives the space a minimalist look. The 60x120cm modules enhance the surface, creating a stark separation from the natural elements that surround the building.
