Homage to Sottsass

A room of just 15 sq m in Milan is transformed into a place with a very striking style, a distinctly pop mood and a tasteful mix of colours, furnishings and surfaces.

The firm responsible for the project was Studio Paradisiartificiali, an anonymous Milanese collective, which, in redesigning a now unfeasible spiral staircase, a request received from the customer, randomly came across the Wikipedia page for Memphis, discovering how the famous movement was officially founded in Ettore Sottsass’ home on the evening of 11 December 1980. The firm therefore decided to turn this discovery into a celebration of this important anniversary (40 years!) and to interpret this space by dedicating it to the great Master.

To enhance all the elements of this distinctive space, for the floor Paradisiartificiali chose a company that has always embraced design as a fundamental part of its identity: Lea Ceramiche. The RE-evolution collection of ultra-thin slabs in the Slimtech series – 3.5mm-thick and available in large sizes (in this case 100×100 cm) – were perfect to complete the project. Distinguished by a discreet, yet elegant style thanks to the delicate designs on the pearl grey surface reminiscent of the spatula processing typical of resin, they are the ideal frame for embracing and highlighting the shapes, the geometry and the saturated colours of the few, well-balanced furnishings. 15 sq m of energy, amazement and lightness.
