Cotto d’Este wins the “La Ceramica e il Progetto 2017” competition
The awards ceremony for the VI edition of La Ceramica e il Progetto took place this past 04 July in Palermo at the SS. Salvatore Church. This architectural competition, organized by Confindustria Ceramica and Cersaie, awards and gives visibility to the best projects completed using Italian tiles.
The jury, made up of architects Mario Cucinella, Cherubino Gambardella, and Fulvio Irace, evaluated 68 projects on the basis of their creativity, functionality, and aesthetic taste, taking into consideration the overall design, the use of ceramic tiles, the quality of the installation, and to what degree the space was enhanced by the materials’ characteristics of sustainability.
For the Commercial/Hospitality category, the “New Reale Group Offices” in Turin by the Iotti+Pavarani and Artecna studios, whose façade features large Kerlite slabs by Cotto d’Este, was the winner. The building’s innovative cladding system uses lightweight composite panels finished with large format ceramic slabs for a visual result that goes hand in hand with the surrounding historic architecture of Turin and makes use of lightweight façade technology for a modern look.
